Welcome Address by the President: Mr. Deepak Bhargava, President welcomed the members and briefly informed about the main activities of the Association during last year. He specifically mentioned efforts being made by Col. Pramod Sharma (1979) and others to take up activities on social side. He commended the work done by Mr. Naveen K Singhal (1990) and his team in developing the alumni website www.malviyans.com and invited suggestions to further improve it.

Annual Report by Secretary: Wg. Cdr. G S Sandhu, General Secretary presented the report on activities of the association during the past year.

Presentation of Accounts by Treasurer: Mr. Naveen K Singhal, Jt. Secretary presented the accounts for the year 2008-09.  Here are the highlights:
  • He informed that there are now 81 Life Members in the MAA-NCR chapter. He suggested that target for this year should be to reach 100 life memberships. Some members suggested for increasing the life membership fees from present Rs 5000.00.
  • The Corpus Fund has increased to Rs. 4,72,000.00.
  • Current assets of association (Cash In Hand + Bank Balance + FDs) are Rs. 6,42,000.00.
Passing of Minutes of Last AGM: The house confirmed the minutes of 13th Annual General Body Meeting.

Election of Executive Committee Members: On the issue of election of new members to the Executive Committee, the members present unanimously supported continuance of the present committee. Mr. R. K. Sood (1974) volunteered for the committee. It was decided that present committee with addition of Shri Sood as executive member, would continue for another term.

Finalisation of Date and Venue for next Family Get-together: It was decided to organize the next family get-together on 9th October 2009 (Friday) evening. The venue will be either Naval Officers Mess (Kota House) or Princess Park, India Gate depending on the availability. The event will be sponsored by the 1994 and 1995 batches.
It was also decided to hold winter family get-together on Jan 31, 2010 and explore possibility of a trip to the hills in March 2010.

Additional points discussed by the House - 1: It was discussed and decided that the amount of Rs. 25,000.00 under Housing Society to be written off as this project is not taken up.

Additional points discussed by the House - 2: Lots of suggestions were received for improving the website and to increase its usage by the malviyans. It included ideas on improving the website features and contents like links to important sites, use of social engines, commercial use to generate additional revenue, uploading information on interest to members/batches, creating payment gateway, etc. Shri Jitendra Chaudhary (1995) volunteered to collect ideas alongwith Shri Jagmohan Rawat (1992), an overseas member, within one month.

Additional points discussed by the House - 3: In order to diversify activities and enhance the image of MAA, some options for indulging in social activities had been under discussion. These included:
  • ‘Greening of Yamuna bank’ by Col. Pramod Sharma (1979)
  • ‘Opening of NGO for helping handicaps’ by Mr. Sushil Chandra (1983)
  • ‘Opening of School for poor’ by Mr. Naveen K Singhal (1990)
  • ‘Procuring an Ambulance and blood donation’ by Mr. Sudeep Gupta (1990)
  • ‘Collecting pledge certificates for eye donation’ by Mr. Vinay Prajapati (1999).
Additional points discussed by the House - 4: A new issue of the ‘MAA Members Directory’ would be released. It was decided that only smaller (abridged) version would be published. Alumni details would be made available on the website www.malviyans.com. Batch representatives were given responsibility to collect information from the members from their batches. Individual members would also be asked to directly update their personal information available on the web site.

Additional points discussed by the House - 5: Mr. Vinod Tomar (2005) suggested that MAA may actively help passing out students/fresher in job placement and campus interviews. An urgent need to improve the communication skills of the students was also pointed out. It was suggested to sponsor English newspapers for the hostel students. Mr. Sood (1974) volunteered to help in this regard. It was also suggested to organise group discussions/ mock interviews with prize distribution to encourage students for improving their skills.

Vote of Thanks: Mr. Naveen K Singhal, Jt. Secretary, presented the vote of thanks.

The meeting was then called off with dinner.
